With the single digit temperatures and high air pressure, most arrived expecting slower than normal times, and an inconvienient switch in the wind direction just before the event from NNE to SE added to the toughness of the ride. Still, 8 of the 31 who had ridden previously in the season improved upon their previous 2007 OTT best. Of special note is the Cadet time of Andrew Lattimore - just three seconds shy of the CAM category record he set on 2006-Aug-24 under far easier conditions. Currently Andrew holds the top 3 CAM times, and it is almost certain that he will improve the CAM standard this year.
